FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What dance styles do you teach?

Jumpup teaches RAD Ballet and ISTD Tap, Modern, and Street Dance. We start at the age of 3 and go up until adult.

Is there parking?

There is a paid car park at the 02 centre. Which is free if you shop at Sainsbury’s There is on street parking with no restrictions for our Saturday classes. At UCL Academy parking is free after 6pm.

Is there a uniform?

We can provide all uniforms.

Ballet ages 5-7 wear a pink leotard, pink skirt, ballet socks and ballet shoes. From Grade 1 up they wear a navy leotard, pink ballet tights and ballet shoes.

What do little ones wear for their ballet classes?

Our Pre Primary (ages 3-6) and Primary dancers (ages 5-9) wear a pink short sleeved leotard, pink wrap-over skirt, pink ballet socks and pink leather ballet shoes

From G1 upwards they wear a navy leotard

Do you do exams?

Our Principal is an RAD examiner and the children prepare for RAD examinations, which are optional. Children can still progress without taking the exam. For Tap and Modern we do ISTD exams.

Do you offer adult classes?

We offer silver swan classes for the over 55s at the Mill Hill Library as well as beginner adult classes.

When can I go on pointe?

Pointe work requires many years of training attending 2+ lessons a week.
The earliest a student can start is age 11 but only if the feet are strong enough and a strong ballet technique is achieved

Ballet is considered to be the foundation of all dance forms. It provides the grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance.

Our RAD Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, team work and self-confidence.

Jumpup offer RAD ballet classes and examinations from age 3 to Adult and from Primary through to Advanced 1. All RAD examinations are placed on the Ofqual framework and the students gain credits which, from G6 examinations upwards, results in valuable UCAS points which can be added to university applications

Young students start with Pre-Primary or Primary which leads to eight Graded and six Vocational Graded levels. Students can move from Graded Examinations to Vocational Graded Examinations at an appropriate time, or they can study both pathways simultaneously.
