What dance styles do you teach?
Jumpup teaches RAD Ballet and ISTD Tap, Modern, and Street Dance. We start at the age of 3 and go up until adult.
Is there parking?
There is a paid car park at the 02 centre. Which is free if you shop at Sainsbury’s There is on street parking with no restrictions for our Saturday classes at St Margaret’s and St mark’s Church. At UCL Academy parking is free after 6pm.
Is there a uniform?
The dancers either wear their ballet leotard & tights with a jumpup T shirt or black leggings and a jumpup T shirt for the ISTD classes.
Footwear is either bare feet or black jazz shoes
Do you do exams?
All our teachers are fully qualified by the ISTD and can enter children for examinations, which are optional. Children can still progress without taking the exam. We currently teach up to ISTD Intermediate which gives our dancers UCAS points and is the equivalent of an A level on the OFQUAL framework.
What age do you start tap?
We offer tap in combination with our ballet classes for most levels. We start from age 3 and our little ones love making a noise with their tap shoes. We find tap dance helps the musicality of all; dancers in any of the dance styles.
Do you offer adult tap classes?
Currently we don’t have an adult tap class, just ballet but if there is enough demand we will happily add one to the timetable.
Tap Dance is an exciting, percussive, and rhythmical dance form where dancers use their feet to strike the floor, creating intricate beats and melodies. Wearing specialized tap shoes with metal plates on the toe and heel, dancers produce the distinctive tap sound that makes this dance so dynamic and engaging. Often featured in stage and screen musicals, Tap Dance is a theatrical art form with a rich history and a strong presence in popular culture.
At Jumpup, students are thoroughly prepared for ISTD Tap Dance exams once they reach the required level of skill and confidence. We offer a range of examinations, from Primary to Advanced, tailored to each student’s progress. While exams are optional, they provide an excellent opportunity to measure progress, build confidence, and celebrate achievement. Regardless of exam participation, students will be able to move up with their friends when they are ready.
All our Tap Dance teachers are highly trained and fully qualified with the ISTD, ensuring top-quality instruction and an engaging learning experience for all students.
